For independent practice, Mt. Fuji Wood Culture Society’s Artist-in-Residence program provides,

・Environment

This program does not offer classes, lectures, or structured instruction.
Artists are expected to define their own themes, schedules, and working processes.

Staff members do not act as instructors or mentors, but focus on providing the environment necessary for self-directed work.

富士山木文化協会アーティスト・イン・レジデンスプログラムは、自主的な創作活動のために以下の環境を提供します：

本プログラムでは、授業、講義、体系的な指導は行いません。

参加者は各自でテーマ、スケジュール、制作プロセスを決めることが求められます。

スタッフは指導者やメンターとしての役割ではなく、自主的な創作活動に必要な環境整備に注力します。

What We Offer

• A focused environment for artistic production including machinery, some handtools and a vast selection of timber types. 

• Essential support for your stay and creative work

• Opportunities to engage with the local area and culture (※Content may vary depending on the season and individual wishes)

What We Do NOT Offer

• Classes or formal instruction

• Continuous technical guidance

• Direction regarding artistic decisions

• Can independently establish their own creative themes and plans

• Can progress their work without constant guidance

• Can first think for themselves and take action when faced with uncertainties or challenges

• Can embrace the residency experience, including periods of stagnation or uncertainty in their work

Not suitable for those who:

• Require explicit instructions or a structured curriculum

• Need constant support from staff

• View the residency as an extension of formal schooling
